Mary “Beth” Ambra

Mary E. “Beth” Ambra, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 
 
She was born November 20, 1939, in Doniphan, MO to Elmer and Lillie (Rideout) Miles.  After Beth graduated from Doniphan High School in 1957, she studied for an education degree at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

After graduating with her degree, she began her teaching career, which took her to many school districts across the state of Missouri, concluding at the Francis Howell School District in St. Charles County, MO.  Along the way she completed her master’s degree and ultimately taught for 37 years, before retiring in 1999.  Working with Special Needs children was the most rewarding aspect of her career.

Beth was the mother of one child, Ben.

Throughout her life, and upon retiring, Beth enjoyed many trips to her cabin overlooking the Current River, outside of Doniphan, MO.  Beth also spent countless hours growing and taking care of her many plants, orchids being her favorite.

Beth is survived by her son, Ben (Shelly) Pulliam; grandchildren, Jennifer Millard (Andrew), Bethanie (Thomas Caselton) Pulliam, Amanda (Edward Piotrowski) Thomas and Sami Bell (fiancé Seth Choate); several great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn E (Lynn). Miles; and several nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Gerald and George Miles and a grandson, Jeffery A. Myers.

Services and Interment were held privately.
