Darline A. Robbins

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darline A. Robbins, on April 4, 2025, at the age of 91 in Davenport, Iowa. Born on May 11, 1933, in Lincoln, Missouri, Darline was a bright light in the lives of everyone she met. Her journey through life, marked by love, resilience, and warmth, leaves a huge loss to her family.

Darline was a wonderful Mom & GrandMA who was always there when we needed her most, offering support, words of wisdom, HUGE hugs, and so much Love!

Throughout her life, Darline was a strong and loyal individual with a maternal instinct that was felt deeply by all. She possessed a remarkable work ethic, dedicating many years to serving her community through her employment working for the state of Iowa in Des Moines, and later as a School Bus Monitor Aide in Davenport, IA. Her ability to connect with others, combined with her generous spirit, made her a beloved friend.

Darline’s passion for life was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She loved to cook and bake for her family (while getting everyone involved in the process) and she had the BEST family reunion’s!! A creative spirit at heart, she found joy in going to garage sales/flea markets, home decor, sewing, crafts, and collecting Tchotchkes. Her love for flower arrangements brought beauty into her home, and her enthusiasm for decorating was second to none! She loved decorating for ALL seasons and holidays, but Christmas was one of her favorites.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Young and step-daughter, Rita Gentile, grandchildren, John Green, Ben (and Patti) Green, Lonni (and Jerry) Swain, Shelly Gentile, Troy Green, Linda Young, and Michael Young, and 21 great grandchildren & 20 great-great grandchildren, brother, Bob Green, and good friend Dena Connelly. These people were her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them. Darline’s legacy of love will live on in their hearts and memories.

Darline was preceded in death by her husband, Clova Robbins step children Sharon Green, Tom Robbins and Patricia Kurtz, and brothers, Bill Green, Sunny Boy Green, and Don Green, and great-granddaughter, Josie Swain, leaving behind a family that will forever cherish her spirit and the many ways she enriched their lives. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends, whose lives were touched by her.

Her whole family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to granddaughter, Lonni, for the compassionate care, love & support given during Darline’s final days.

A private Celebration of Darline's life will be held Saturday, April 19th, where her family will come together to honor her memory and share many stories that they hold dear in their hearts. Darline A. Robbins will always be remembered for her loving heart, her mischievous smile, and her unwavering dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
