Barbara J. Taylor
Barbara J. Taylor passed away peacefully at West Union Hospital. She was 73 ½ years. She was born at the old Postville hospital on September 18th, 1951, to Robert Richard Szabo Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Ferguson)Szabo of Castalia, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran church Castalia, where she is and was a member most of her life. She attended Castalia Community school through 2nd grade and graduated from Postville High School in 1969.
Barb worked for Northern Engraving in Waukon after high school until her marriage to Gene Kurth on Feb 14th, 1970. To this union one son Jeremy was born. Barb was very active in farming and later worked at Monona wire for 13 years 3M for 11 years. During this time barb loved to bowl and took many trips to tournaments.
She married Larry Taylor on October 19th 2001. Operating a trucking Barb always said there was never a dull moment being married to Larry, after coming home from trucking, with projects and renovations to do.
She loved to play cards and watched not only Hawkeye, but Cyclones, Panthers and Peacocks football and men and women basketball. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing produce and loved flowers for pops of color.
Barb is survived by her husband and awesome caregiver Larry Taylor of Castalia, her son Jeremy Kurth of Waukon, her sister Beverly (Jimmy) Tangen of Castalia, her brother Robert Szabo Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA, her step- daughter Stacey (Chad) Sue of Bascobel, WI. Her Aunts Dianne Buddenberg and Fayne Szabo, her uncle Victor and many nieces and nephews & cousins.
Barb was preceded in death by parents Robert and Mary Szabo. Paternal Grandparents Steve and Laura Szabo and maternal grandparents Lloyd and Irma Ferguson. Mother in-law Ethel Wallace and many aunts and uncles.
