Pauline Edna (Reed) Schadt of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died from natural causes on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, in Waterloo, Iowa. She was witty and engaging until the very end. Private family burial will occur at the Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Gladbrook, Iowa.
Pauline (Polly) Edna Reed was born July 18th, 1929, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Stella (Foltz) Reed. Polly graduated from Decorah High School in 1947.
Polly married the love of her life William (Bill) Schadt in Lancaster, Missouri. Polly attended Gerald’s School of Hair Design in Marshalltown, Iowa, and owned and operated the Lincoln Beauty Shop for 33 years. Polly was a member of the Salem Church of Lincoln and later the First Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, Iowa. She participated in the Lincoln AMVETS Auxiliary, the Lincoln Commercial Club, and Living Branches. She was an EMT for the Gladbrook/Lincoln Ambulance and the Mayor of Lincoln. Polly was a Cub Scout and Brownie leader for many years. She also taught baton twirling and was in a bowling league. Polly loved camping with her husband, especially at the Iowa State Fair, and they enjoyed wintering in Texas for many years together. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Polly is survived by daughter, Linda McKinney (Dale); son, Carl Schadt (Debbie); daughter, Luan Mohr; daughter, Mary Peters (Andrew); 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Schadt, and her son, Vern Schadt.
The family asks that any memorial gifts be donated in Polly’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
