Diane Louise Ellis
Diane Louise Ellis, 81 of Anamosa IA, departed to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Sunday, September 29th, 2024.
She was born May 12th, 1943, in Anamosa IA to Owen and Louise (Husmann) Conley. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1961 and went on to complete her nurses training in St Louis, MO. While in nursing training she met the love of her life, Orville Bruce Ellis (Bruce) and were married October 10th, 1964, for nearly 58 years. They had three children; Michael (Vicky) Ellis, Tina Ellis, Jennifer (Mark) Yerges and 5 grandchildren; Christopher Ellis, Megan Ellis, Tony Dirks, Ryan Yerges, and Jason Yerges.
As a military wife she worked as a nurse in Newport RI, Chicago IL, and St Charles MO before relocating to Anamosa IA in 1982. She worked at the Iowa State Penitentiary as a nurse until retiring in 2005.
Diane was dedicated to her faith and family and will be remembered by those who knew her as a kind, generous person known for her enormous heart, service to others, and great sense of humor. Her love of her country was evident through charitable support for our veterans and wounded warriors. She supported humanitarian organizations such as Mercy Ships that deploy hospital ships filled with state-of-the-art medical equipment and a volunteer crew of doctors, nurses, and other caring people driven by mercy to help make the world a better, healthier place for all. Interests included spending time with family and friends, cooking, bird watching and growing flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Surviving are her children, grandchildren, brother James (Eunice) Conley, and sister JoAnn (Al) Christie.
A celebration of life service will be held in her memory at a later time as to be determined by the family.
