D. Hugh Drake
John 14:1-4: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." I’m sorry for your loss. You will be in my prayers along with my family. God bless you and your family. Kyle
Dear Rosemary and Nancy and family. I wish to extend my most sincere condolences to you with the passing of a good friend and colleague Hugh Drake. I had the pleasure of working closely with Hugh when he was a teacher and coach and I was one of the ice Principals at Abraham Lincoln high school from 1980 to 1987. During that time Hugh made a tremendous contribution to the students and community when he was at ALHS as he was well respected by everybody. I had many wonderful conversations with Hugh about family philosophy, kids and The Hawkeyes. I always referred to him as Mr. Rose Bowl. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days and months that lie ahead. I believe Hugh is now in heaven, smiling down upon us all.. He loved his family greatly.
RIP Coach. You always challenged me to be better. I thank you for that. - Augie
He was my football coach at East High School in 1972. He taught not just about football but life and responsibility. A fine coach and a great man. His understanding and dedication will be sorely missed. RIP coach.
I called Hugh Bobo because he liked to mix it up with the guys at practice. One time he came up bleeding from his scalp, looked like a human volcano. The original hot chinese bobo plate. We know how much he will be missed, he was the great heart,
