Anna Mae Edwards

Anna Mae Edwards, 83, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on September 2nd, 2024, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa, with family by her side.

Anna was born on May 30th, 1941, to Myron and Mildred (Edwards) Johnson in Maquoketa, IA. She lived in Maquoketa while attending school and also worked for a number of years at the Green Mill Cafe in Maquoketa during her teen and young adult years.  She was employed for many years as a production worker at Featherlite Trailers in Cresco, Iowa, before retiring.  She lived in Lime Springs, Iowa, from the mid-1970s until the Spring of 2019 when she moved back to the Maquoketa area.

Anna loved animals from the time she was a young girl and enjoyed the company of many dogs and horses throughout her lifetime.  Anna and her husband, Dale, spent many evenings playing cards with close friends and she often made cakes or candy for special occasions.  She was especially known for her homemade chocolate fudge.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dale Edwards; a son from her first marriage, Jonathan McCloy; a brother, Everett Johnson; her parents, Myron and Mildred Johnson, a brother-in-law, Mike Lyons, a sister-in-law, Rosemary Johnson; a daughter-in-law, Kathy McCloy; a son-in-law, Alan Carter; two granddaughters, Samantha Rains and Cindy Marshall; and a grandson, Daniel Edwards.

Anna is survived by her children, Wayne (Debi) McCloy, Brent McCloy, Joyce (Mark) Rains, Mary Carter, Carol (Ray) Reavy, James (Lynn) Edwards, Linda (Mike) Cronk, Martha (Neil) Mathison, and John (Sheila) Edwards; her step-children Ron (Rose) Edwards, David (Vickie) Edwards, Bonnie Edwards, and Bill Edwards; her siblings Carl Johnson, Neda (Frank) Swords, Larry (Marsha) Johnson, and Karen Lyons as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Anna’s family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Maquoketa Care Center for the excellent care provided to Anna while she was a resident there.  We would also like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Jackson County IA for their care and support during Anna’s final days with us.

In keeping with Anna’s wishes she was cremated and there will be no funeral services. We invite friends and family to honor their memories of Anna in their own ways.

May Anna rest in eternal peace.
