Susan Hauptly
Susan Hauptly, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. A celebration of life will be held at the Dunkerton Community Hall on Saturday, October 26th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
Susan was born on April 16, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa and was raised in Dewar, Iowa. She attended Dunkerton Community Schools and graduated in 1974. She married Don Hauptly and together they had four children: Sam, Nicholas, Lucas, and Olivia. Don and Sue later separated but remained friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her unwavering love and support. Susan had a passion for gardening, arts and crafts, collecting, and cooking.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bill and Arlene Widdel, and her son, Lucas Hauptly.
Susan is survived by her sisters, Leanne Much, Julie Allaway, Pat Knebel, and Kati Widdel; children, Sam (Rachel) Hauptly, Nicholas Hauptly, Olivia (Brandon) Farley, Jennifer (Carlos) Wesley, and Maggie (Phil) McGill; grandchildren, Bo Hauptly, Justin Wesley, Emma McGill, Ruby McGill, Ian Farley, Guinevere Farley, Franklin Hauptly, Thomas Hauptly, Edith Hauptly, and George Hauptly.
