Geraldine Lorraine Vinchattle
Geraldine (Jerry) Lorraine was born March 6,1936 to Alice Lorraine and Gerald Myers. Gerald died at the age of 29 and when Jerry was 3 her mother married Lloyd Ulrick.
She graduated from Stratford High School in 1953 and began working as a long-distance telephone operator. In 1954 she married Marvin E Johnson and to this union a son Erling Johnson was born. The couple later divorced. In 1958 Jerry married Edward Vinchattle and in the following years she worked as a waitress and at Herb’s grocery store until their son Kirk was born. Later, they welcomed a daughter, Tamara, to complete the family.
In 1973 she went to work for the local Leeds grocery store for 30 plus years until it closed. She considered the Leeds family part of her family as well. Jerry continued working for the local convenience store until retiring at the age of 85.
She loved having daily coffee with her friends, sewing and baking goodies of all kinds. She loved all of her family and friends and was known to many as "Mama Jer". She was also known by family for her phrase, "Don't worry things will all work out they always do.”
She was preceded in death by husband Ed, Parents, Son Erling Johnson, Brothers Donald Ulrick and Marshall "Butch" Ulrick.
She is survived by her son Kirk Vinchattle, daughter Tammy Johnson, Grandchildren Colter (Joslynn) Johnson, Connor Vinchattle, Cheyenne (Braden) Spillman and Kaine (Emily Hill) Vinchattle and 3 Great Grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A casual celebration of life will be held Friday November 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Vintage Parlor 908 Commercial St in Stratford Iowa.
