Dean Lewis VanLangen
Dean was born on May 2, 1946 to parents Lewis B. VanLangen and Frances (Cook) VanLangen residing in Kamrar, Iowa. He joined his older siblings Berkley Vanlangen and Rita (VanLangen) Love and was later joined by his younger sister Nancy (VanLangen) Coffee. He passed from life on earth October 20th 2024.
Dean is survived by his siblings Rita Love and Nancy Coffee, his wife Luann VanLangen, his son - Todd (Eva) VanLangen, step-son Dean (Amanda) Chally, step-daughter Rachel (Ron)Thompson. Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Erin), Troy, Paige, Mark, Marissa (Justin), Austin, Liberty, Lincoln, Hudson, Lyla, and Cash. Great Grandchildren: Jeffrey III, Artorias, Skyler, Joey Ann.
Dean was preceded in death by both his parents Lewis B. VanLangen and Frances (Cook) VanLangen and his brother Berkley Vanlangen.
Dean resided in Kamrar, Iowa through high school. After graduating high school, he attended Sacramento State College in California and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement. Upon graduation he joined the Army and served in Korea as an MP and in CID as an Investigator. After serving a two-year term he returned to the U.S. and moved to New York to attend a polygraph training program. Upon graduation he was hired by the school as a teacher. Later he returned to Iowa where he became an independent polygraph examiner, working for attorneys and the state all over Iowa for 35 years. Dean enjoyed spending time out in nature, around a campfire, listening to music, the sound of the ocean and having a good conversation.
A short service for family and friends will be held at the chapel at Athens Woods Estates (1250 Highway 175, Stratford, IA 50249) on Sunday, November 24th, 2024 at 1PM. A time to share memories and refreshments with family and friends will occur immediately following the service before family proceed to a private graveside internment at Vegors Cemetery North of Stratford.
