Margaret Godfrey, Age 97, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the West Ridge Care Center on Monday, May 20, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A private graveside service will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 1 PM.
Margaret was born on May 11, 1927, in Monterey, CA. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Juanita (DeSoto) Manjares. On October 6, 1945. Margaret married the love of her life, Victor Irvin Godfrey in Monterey, CA. They lived in California and the Midwest up until 1958, where they settled in Rock Island, IL. Margaret moved back to California after her husband’s passing and lived there until 2013, when she moved back to Cedar Rapids to live with her daughter, Jennifer. She was an active witness for Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Stoneridge church. Margaret loved everyone and they all loved her.
Those left to cherish Margaret’s memory are her children, Inez Davis of Muscatine, IA, Jennifer (Paul, Jr.) Owen, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Phillip (Grace) Godfrey, of the Philippines; her grandchildren, Tammy (James) Anderson of Idaho, Faith Boonmanne, of CA, Rebecca Davis of Muscatine, IA, Marvan Davis, Jr., of Florida, Dawn (Jason) Martin, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Joy Owen of Olathe, KS, Margaret (Steven) Collier, of Germany, Paul (Anna) Owen, III, of Lisbon, IA, Aiyanna and Bella Godfrey, of the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her siblings, Robert Manjares, Beatrice Manjares, Joseph Manjares, and Raymond Manjares.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice.
