Gloria Ann (Moody) Most, 86, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away at Good Samaritan on May 8, 2024 and will be laid to rest Saturday September 21st in a private family inurnment at the Farragut Cemetery.
Gloria was born December 26, 1937, in Shenandoah, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph LeRoy Moody and Dorcas Juanita (Cloyd) Moody. Gloria graduated from Riverton High School in 1956. Gloria was a member of the 1st Christian Church of Red Oak.
After high school she worked for Earl May Seed and Murphy Calendar before settling into her career at the State of Iowa’s Department of Motor Vehicle department where she retired for the first time after 24 years of service. She later took on a part time position in Red Oak as a bookkeeper for Growth Unlimited for 5 years before relocating to central Iowa to care for one of her grandsons for a few years. Once she truly retired she continued enjoying her independence and focusing on her hobbies of crocheting, knitting, reading, attending as many race car tracks as she could and making plans to see all of her family and multiple great grandchildren. Some of Gloria’s proudest accomplishments in life were raising her three boys and all the blessings that continued to come for years after.
Gloria is survived by her brother Gary (Gayle) Moody of Northboro, IA, brother Terry (Caroline) of Dubuque, IA, sister Glenda Sandhal of Shenandoah IA, 3 sons Lance (Kathi) Most of Red Oak, IA, Monte (Jimmie) Most of Red Oak, IA, Marde (Amy) Most of Thurman, IA, Karen Moody, special friend Sherry Ranney, 11 grandchildren: Crystal, Josh, Stephanie, Aubrey, Obie, Erin, Misty, Damien, Jennifer, Tamara, and Julia; 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her grandparents Walter and Pearl Moody, Arthur and Emma Cloyd, her parents Ralph and Dorcas Moody, brother Larry Moody, granddaughter Angel Dykes and special friend Mary Ann McCreedy.
A Celebration of Life event for Gloria will be held on Saturday September 21st at the Red Oak Depot from 12:30 – 3:00. The family would like to invite those nearby to Red Oak and available to stop by to celebrate Gloria.
