Alex (Gene) Sinclair
It is with great sadness that the family of Alex (Gene) Sinclair, share that Alex passed away from cancer at St. Luke’s Hospice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on May 30, 2024. He fought hard and gave it his all.
Alex was born on September 27,1957, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the youngest son of Marvin and Mary Ellen Sinclair. He attended school at Central Lyon and graduated in 1975. After attending the University of Northern Iowa, he moved to Houston, Texas. He was employed by Ruan Transportation. With his work, Alex made friends throughout the country. One of his greatest joys was Minnesota fishing trips with his two sons, the Vogel family and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin sisters, Deborah and Diana Sinclair. Alex is survived by his two sons, AJ Sinclair and Andrew Sinclair of Houston, Texas, his brother, Dennis (Arlis) Sinclair of Cedar Falls, Iowa, his sister, Marlene (Steve) Bartlett of Marion, Iowa, very special nieces and nephews and their families, Uncle and Aunt, Dr. Kenneth and Lou Roach of Sioux City, Iowa, and many cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the Mary Ellen Roach Sinclair 4H Scholarship through the Central Lyon School Foundation or The Ed and Joan Hemphill Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Celebration of Life is planned in Rock Rapids on a date yet to be scheduled.
