Mary Marcella Betts

Mary Marcella Betts, 82, of Osage, passed away at home on March 9, 2024.  Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, March 14 at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar and the funeral service will be on Friday, March 15, at  11:00am at the United Methodist Church in St. Ansgar.  A private burial will be held at a later date in the Osage Cemetery. 

Mary was born March 19, 1941 in Riceville, Iowa. The daughter of Lynn and Leona (Winer) Fesenmeyer. She was raised on a farm near McIntire, Iowa and graduated from McIntire High School.

Mary was united in marriage to Neil Betts in the United Methodist Church, McIntire on July 28, 1962. They made their home in Osage where they raised four children.

She worked for the Osage Community School for over 40 years as a bus driver and many years during the summer with a detasseling crew. 

Survivors include her children, Tim Betts (Laurie) of Orchard;  Pam (Doug) Uthe of Osage; Carrie (Paul) Juenger of Stacyville; and Jill (Dan) Popp of Osage; grandchildren, Tanner (Ashley), and Justin (Haley) Betts; Kayla (fiance Nick), and Michael Uthe; Kylie, Sam, and Maci Juenger; Jared (Kendra), Jadie (fiance Trystan), Josie, and Jace Popp; great-grandchildren Paisley, Huxley, Brixley, Allorie, Adelynn, Anthem, and Briggs; sisters, Audrey Green, Linda Bird, and Rita Marr; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fesenmeyer. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; parents, Lynn and Leona Fesenmeyer; and brothers, Charles and Jim Fesenmeyer.
