Darryl T. Brunsvold

Darryl T. Brunsvold, 83, of Decorah, IA passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4th, 2024, with family beside him. A private service officiated by his son Jay Laidlaw will be held on March 16th, 2024 at 1:00 pm at 3955 Superior Drive NW, Rochester, MN 55901. 

Darryl was born on July 2nd, 1940 to Hobart B. and Fern O. (Olson) Brunsvold in Billings, MN. On February 20th, 1976, he married Audrey J. Pritchard-Laidlaw in Nashua, IA. 

Darryl enjoyed being in the woods and gardening with his wife. He loved being outside. He also loved to travel, he spent a summer in the North Slope of Alaska, he scuba dived in the Coral Reefs in the South Pacific while in the Navy. He also traveled a lot in his career.

Darryl had a Career with IBM in Rochester, MN where he attained the position of Advisory Engineer in the Development Laboratory. Darryl and Audrey then moved to Wisconsin and he worked for Trane. Then they moved to Kansas City and he worked at the United States Marine Corps Communications Center and then retired. Darryl and Audrey then moved to Decorah Iowa where they have lived for the last 10.5 years.

Preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Darryl is survived by his loving wife Audrey; four children, Susan Laidlaw of Rochester, Debra Stafford of Rochester, Jay (Mary) Laidlaw of Elgin, and Mike (Nikki) Laidlaw of Kansas City; twenty grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
