Danny Monroe Blair

Danny Monroe Blair, 84, died Saturday, March 2, 2024, at HallMar Village in Marion, Iowa. No services are planned at this time.

Dan was born on September 19, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Frances (King) Blair. He married Barbara Sebol on June 25, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married for over 61 years and were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family at Little Brown Church. In addition to raising two boys, Dan worked full-time at Farmland Industries. He dearly enjoyed spending time with family, and his dogs. Dan also enjoyed drag racing, car shows, and loved his Oldsmobiles (“They did not crush them all”). Dan and Barb also loved spending winters in Florida with their many friends around Melbourne. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his children, Doug (Carol) Blair of Swisher and Jeff (Theresa) Blair of Swisher; grandchildren, Andrea, Lindsey (Josh) and Michael; and a great-grandson, Eli; a sister, Sandra (Lloyd) Walters of Maryville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society.

A special thank you to his neighbors and friends on Tamara Drive in Cedar Rapids who helped Dan and Barb for so many years! Also, Dan’s friends and staff at Keystone at Forevergreen, HallMar Village, and Hospice of Mercy,  who welcomed him and treated  Dan like family.
