Obituary for Lynette Jean Bobst

Lynette Jean Bobst, 81, of Waterloo Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2024 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. Services will be held on Friday June 28th, 2024, at St John Lutheran Church 715 College St. Cedar Falls. The visitation will be at 9am, the service at 10am, coffee and cookies to follow.  The burial will be afterwards at Dumont Cemetery.

Lyn was born on March 16th, 1943, to Mack and Madalene (Fary) Northrup in Cedar Falls. 

She was united in marriage to Darvin M. Bobst on August 2nd, 1968, at First Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. Lyn and Darv have two sons, Joseph M. and James C. Bobst. Lyn and Darv were members at St. John Lutheran Church.  

Lyn attended business college after graduating high school and worked in the offices of Viking Pump. After the birth of her sons Lyn was a stay-at-home mom and in-home daycare provider until both sons were in junior high. Then she returned to business college and held various clerical positions at a downtown Waterloo office and two churches. Lyn retired from the Cedar Falls schools as a paraeducator. 

Lyn is survived by her two sons: Joseph (Karen), James (Shawn), she loved being Grandma Lyn to her grandchildren: John Gogola (Alex), David Bobst (Alison), and Jaime Bobst and a Great Grandma Lyn to her great grandchildren: Mara Bobst, Adelaide Bobst, and Brady Gogola.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Darv Bobst; her parents, Mac and Madalene Northrup; and her brother Jim Northrup.
