Obituary for David Allen "Grizz" Aossey Sr

David Allen "Grizz" Aossey Sr., 66, of Belle Plaine, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 08, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Celebration of life will be held July 21, 2024, from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at the East Overlook day use area in Pavilion #4 at Coralville Lake.  Address is as follows: 2825 Prairie du Chien Rd NE, Iowa City, Iowa 52240.

He is survived by his daughter, Christina Aossey; two sons, David (Tina Doehrmann) Aossey Jr.; Zach Aossey; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two sisters; Jo Marie Butz and Rose White.

Preceded in death by his parents, William David Aossey and Dorothy Mae Aossey; a sister, Freda Mae Adams;  Aunt Bobbie and Uncle Bob; and brother in laws Roger Butz and Pat White.

Dave was born on July 2, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1975. He worked hard for 50 years, and recently retired from PMX a year and a half ago as a forklift operator. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, camping, auctions, and gun shows.  He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. His favorite time of the year was July, when his friends and family gather at Coralville Reservoir, every year since the 60’s.
