Norma Jean Starks

Norma Jean Starks of Cedar Rapids, IA passed away on July 10, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on May 26, 1952 to G. Norman and Beulah Amundson in Postville, IA, graduating from Postville High School in 1970 and nursing school in 1973. Norma was married to Kenneth Starks on October 12, 1974 in Cedar Rapids, the city she would make her home.

Norma worked as a nurse with Mercy and St Luke’s hospitals until 2014. She spent many summers traveling across the US with her husband and children. Norma was active with her church family at Faith Bible Church, where she led many young women in AWANA for more than 30 years.

Norma is survived by her husband Kenneth; her two children David (Qing) Starks of Seattle, WA and Kathleen (Jeff) Teegarden of Cedar Rapids, IA; her two grandchildren Rigel Starks and Tycho Starks; her brother Albert (Mary) Amundson and sister Brenda (Byron) Moses; her aunts Vernalene Oelberg of Waukon, IA and Lee Oelberg of Seneca, SC; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Linda Schutte; brother, Gary Amundson, and sister-in-law, Anita Amundson.

Norma was a loving and kind woman who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on July 23 at Faith Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, IA, a memorial service will follow at 10:30.
