Susan Kay Apple

Susan Kay Apple was born October 25,1954 and lost her battle with cancer on Jan 1, 2024. She
passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Urbandale.

Sue was born to Mary and Robert Bowman in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She had three siblings Rocky,
Connie and Barb. She lived and grew up in Des Moines until she moved to Dexter, Iowa in
1970. Dexter is where she met her first husband Michael Adkins and gave birth to her three
sons Jason, Eric and Alex. She spent the next 19 years making a loving home dedicated to her
husband and sons. Sue worked at the county attorney's office and then the Iowa Attorney
General's office where she would retire in 2017.

Sue met Bill Apple in 1991 and they were married in 2007. They would spend the next 30 years
making a beautiful life together. They lived at Diamondhead Lake in Dexter before building a
house outside Earlham. They would eventually move to Urbandale. Sue loved gardening,
cooking, decorating, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family. Anyone that knew
Sue knew that she had this remarkable talent for taking the simple things and making them
beautiful. She is survived by her husband Bill, her sister Connnie, her three sons Jason, Eric
and Alex.Three daughters-in-law Jamie, Dana and Amber. Two step sons Nick and Andy 9
grandchildren Seth, Zoe, Elijah, Mya, Chase, Norah Adkins and Ruger Apple.

As the matriarch of this family she will be missed deeply and will live in our hearts forever.
Per Sue’s request the family will be having a Celebration of life with just the immediate family in
attendance.
