Leland "Lee" Erick Levenhagen

Leland "Lee" Erick Levenhagen, 81, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024. Born to Erick and Wilhelmenia (Lubben) Levenhagen on July 14,1942, Lee was raised on the family farm where he continued to live for most of his life.

A proud graduate of Rockwell-Swaledale High School, Class of 1960, Lee dedicated 23 years of his career as a maintenance technician at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company, followed by a tenure at Curries for 13 years until his retirement. A skilled and passionate farmer, Lee's love for the land was evident in his tireless work and commitment to farming.

Lee was known for his love of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. His skills extended beyond the farm; he was a talented handyman who could fix anything. From machinery to cars, Lee's garage was often filled with various projects, reflecting his joy in tinkering and problem-solving. He was a generous soul, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.

On June 19, 1971, he married Sharon Kay Smidt, and together they raised a loving family. Lee is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Sharon Levenhagen; their children, Tina Levenhagen of Mason City, Christy (Toby) Welsh of Crystal Lake, IA, and Eric (Kristy) Levenhagen of Burleson, TX. He was a cherished grandfather to Rusty, Dominic (Steph), Cayla, Stephenie (Cam), Grace, Adrian, Alexis, Rachel, Jaremy, Hunter, and Alyssa. His legacy continues through them and his five great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Wilhelmenia; his brother Loren; his sister-in-law Mary, and nephew Rick.

A celebration of Lee's life will be held in the spring, allowing friends and family to gather and share memories of a man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

His kindness, generosity, and spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
