Gerald “Jerry” D. Shannon, 91, of Waterloo, passed away on January 26, 2024 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Loftys Lounge in Evansdale.
Jerry was born in Leota, Kansas on September 30, 1932 to Earl and Doris (Campbell) Shannon. Jerry enjoyed that old time country music, singing and dancing. He was a hunter and liked to fish. Jerry could take a joke as easily as he gave them. Jerry retired from John Deere after many years. He was a veteran. He spent 58 years with his wife Lucille, who he dearly loved and missed after her passing. He was a respectful, caring and pleasant man to be around. Jerry is deeply missed and has left us many special memories.
Jerry is survived by his daughter, Shelly Shannon of Waterloo and his son, Rick (Kim) Shannon of Olathe, KS; grandchildren, Sarah Shannon of Waterloo; Toby (Jennifer) Edmondson Jr. of Evansdale; Scott Shannon of Olathe, KS; and Michael Terry of Weed, California, Diana Deserano of Cedar Rapids and Angie (Mark) Bertram of Cedar Rapids; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lucille; a son Bud Shannon; and his daughters, Connie Brewer and Geri White.
