Danny Steven Morrill

Danny Steven Morrill, 75 passed away peacefully in his home January 20th, 2024.

Danny was born in Waverly, Iowa to Steve and Lorraine Morrill. When he was 12 years old, he moved to Altoona, IA where he lived and went to school until he entered the Navy at 18 yrs. old for a short stint.

He had a son Kevin Morrill in 1970 and married Nancy Morrill in 1971 gaining a 6 yr. old stepdaughter DeeDee. Dan and Nancy were married 52 yrs. and resided in West Des Moines, Iowa their entire marriage. Dan worked as a Pressman in printing shops most of his life until the last 10 years of his life when he worked as a custodian for WDM Public Schools at Westridge Elementary. It was a great new adventure for him that he loved, sharing his favorite goofy faces and puns with a new generation of kids!

Danny loved all things nature and outdoors, spending countless weekends at the family Cabin at Red Rock with his 4 grandchildren swimming, boating, fishing, bird watching, rock collecting and hunting for mushrooms and fun. When he retired, he and Nancy adopted 3 chihuahuas over those years. Dan dearly loved his dogs and spoiled them and doted on them often. Dan was a simple hardworking man all his life and when he wasn’t working at his job he was often found tinkering in his workshop building various toys for his grandchildren and for his home.

He was baptized in 1982 and in the later years of his life became a man of faith and prayer.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Morrill, his daughter DeeDee Trevillyan (J.E.), son Kevin Morrill, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren as well as his brothers, Larry Morrill (Connie), Jeff Morrill (LeaAnn) and sisters Nancy Mobley (Russ) and Patricia Bailey and his beloved fur babies Tonka and Lucy.

Visitation with family will be Sat Jan. 27th from 12pm-2pm with the service at 2pm and a light lunch to follow at West Des Moines Open Bible Church.
