Marilynn was born on April 8th, 1943 to Charles and Maxine (Robinson) Cook in Rock Island, IL. Marilynn grew up in Corydon, IA and graduated from Cambria Corydon High School in 1961. She continued her education at AIC in Davenport, Iowa.  She met Jim Rorick there. They married in 1963, they later divorced. They had three children from this union; Kim, Kirk and Kit. Marilynn married Kenneth Hass in 1978, he died in 1986. From this union, Little Ray of Sunshine, Molly was born.

Marilynn had various bookkeeping jobs through life, but her most fulfilling job was that as librarian at Curtis Memorial Library. Her love of reading has been passed down to her daughters and granddaughters. Besides reading, she loved to play cards, more specifically Sheepshead, and she was blessed with great friends who would pick her up, so she would not have to drive home in the dark. Marilynn enjoyed helping fold the Wheatland Wire and engaging in the latest gossip.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maxine Cook, her husband, Kenneth Ardell Hass, her grandson-in-law, Scott Dierks.
