Douglas A. Hladek, Jr.

Douglas A. Hladek, Jr., 63, of Cedar Rapids, IA, went home to be with our Lord on December 21, 2024,  after a brief illness.

Doug was born November 22, 1961, to Douglas and Barbara (Bridges) Hladek, Sr. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, where he graduated from Jefferson High School and then pursued degrees from the University of Iowa and an MBA from Arizona State University. Doug was a gifted artist and lit up the stage, performing in many theater productions, as well as Westside Delegation. He loved his numerous years playing baseball and was a talented boxer. His passion for animals led to his dedication to helping rescue dogs.

Doug was blessed with a daughter, who he loved very much, as well as two grandchildren. He also had enduring love for his dogs, Sunny, Jack, and Wrigley. Doug had great love and affection for his nephews and niece; Lee, Jay, and Marge Lingenfelter.

Doug is survived by his daughter Samantha Maske (Brandon) and granddaughters, Blaire, and Amelia Maske. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Douglas A. Hladek, Sr., his mother Barbara E. Hladek, and grandparents Anthony and Bessie Hladek & Herman and Florence Bean.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date in 2025.
