John “Jack” Weber
John “Jack” Weber 82 of Lansing IA passed away peacefully at home with family on Monday August 26, 2024. Jack was born on August 13, 1942, in Lansing to John M and Leona (Kelleher) Weber and was raised on his family farm in rural Lansing. Jack graduated from St. George High School in 1960 and helped his father manage the family farm until 1965. Jack was employed by Kelly Springfield Tire Company Freeport Il. until 1974. Jack was a John Deere dealership owner until 1996, co-owning Lansing Garage, Inc., which moved to Waukon, IA in 1983 and became Allamakee Implement Co. Jack also owned Prairie Rental and Sales, Inc. in Prairie Du Chien WI until 2002. Jack then worked for Universal Forest Products in Prairie Du Chien starting as a general laborer and advancing to Inventory Control Auditing & Shipping before retiring in 2011.
On January 12, 1963, Jack married Stella Spalla. They celebrated 61 years wed and together raised six children, sons Francis, Anthony, John, and Thomas and daughters Marie and Amy. Jack enjoyed snowmobiles, bowling, golf and playing euchre. Jack was an active member of Waukon Golf Club, a past member of the Lions Club, and Knights of Columbus Council. His catholic faith led him to roles in the parish council and the finance committee for Immaculate Conception Church Lansing IA.
Jack will be remembered for his great character, kind heart, and strong work ethic. The relationships he built while in business and a member of the community led him to be loved by many. He often reminded those who were close to him how blessed he was and how proud he was of his children and grandchildren.
Jack will be sadly missed by his wife, Stella, children Marie (Jon), Frank (Annette), Anthony, Amy (David), John (Laura), and T. J.; grandchildren Megan, Zachary, James (Carlin), Aidan, Dakota, Madeline, Jack, Mayme, Michael, Katelin; great grandchildren Adeline, Noah, Jasmine, Lilith, Oakley, Axton, and Leon and his sister Esther. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law John (Jack) Hafkemeyer, sister Rita, and brother-in-law William (Esther) Welsh.
The Weber family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the kindness and support given to the family by St. Croix Hospice. Their caring, compassionate staff was the reason Jack was able to stay in his home surrounded by the family he treasured until he was called to Heaven.
A funeral service will be held Saturday November 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at the Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank Community Center in Lansing, Iowa from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
