Darvin Merle Bobst
Darvin Merle Bobst, age 78, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024 at Grandview Health Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa. Services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 10 am, with a visitation an hour prior, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Coffee and cake will be held from 11 to noon at the church.
Darvin was born on October 24, 1945 in rural Wadena County, Minnesota to Marvin and Viola (Jungling) Bobst. He grew up on a farm and attended school in Sebeka, Minnesota. At the age of seventeen, Darvin moved out on his own to Minneapolis, Minnesota to work for a peanut and candy factory.
He was united in marriage to Lynette J. Northrup on August 2, 1968, at the First Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Darvin and Lynette have two sons, Joseph M. and James C. Bobst. Darvin and Lynette are members at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Darvin was a hard-working man, he retired from Viking Pump. Darvin loved riding his motorcycle whenever he had the chance up until he became ill. Darvin excelled in all the titles life bestowed upon him: son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.
Darvin is survived by his wife of 55 years Lynette (Lyn), his two sons: Joseph (Karen), James (Shawn), 3 grandchildren: John Gogola (Alex), David Bobst (Alison), and Jaime Bobst and 3 great grandchildren: Mara, Adelaide and Brady.
Darvin was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Viola Bobst; sister, JoAnn Kohrs; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
