Barbara L. Nichols, 76, of Independence, passed away on April 8, 2024 at ABCM Rehabilitation Centers in Independence. A celebration of life service will be held on April 21, 2024 from 11:45 am to 3 pm at the Fellowship Hall of the Indee Community Bible Church in Independence.
Barbara was born on September 20, 1947 to Bernard and Ida Arlene (Franke) Kressley in Waterloo, Iowa. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1966. Barb was united in marriage to Tadd Nichols on June 5, 1970 in Cedar Falls. She worked as a CNA and Home Care Aide for 24 years.
She is survived by her son, Nathan Nichols of Sparta, NC; grandkids, Tommy Nichols and Kimberly Whitaker; 8 great grandkids; siblings, Robert Kressley and Frank Kressley both of Cedar Falls; Beth (Ron) Stevens of Waterloo; Berna Deane (Bob) Webb of LeMars; John (Gail) Kressley of VA. Several in laws: Tim Nichols of Independence and Mark (Angie) Nichols, Mary (Peter) Mountifield, Leila (Marvin) Bower; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Tadd in 2018; her father, her daughter Naomi Mussman, and stillborn baby, Aaron.
Barb wanted to be remembered for her faith and giving nature and asked that any memorial donations be sent to either the A.L.S ASSOCIATION (donations@als.org) or CEDAR VALLEY HOSPICE in memory of Tadd Nichols.
