Michael "Hubie" J. McGinn
Michael J. “Hubie” McGinn, 73, passed away peacefully at the Edgewood Convalescent Home on Monday, September 18, 2023. Hubie was raised in Ryan, Iowa and spent most of his life in Manchester.
He worked at various jobs until retirement. Although Hubie endured severely limited eyesight for over fifty years, it never deterred him from finding a good time. Many lifelong memories were created with a cold Bud and friends while watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Michael is survived by his daughter Tracey McGinn of Davenport, brother-in-law Jim Monaghan of West Des Moines, sister-in-law Janice McGinn of Cedar Rapids and nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Berniece McGinn, brother Patrick McGinn and sister Marge Monaghan.
A special thanks to his cousin Barb Duggan Rettinger and Jim “Termite” Turman for their many years of support and friendships. Also, thanks to the all the health care providers who have cared for Michael over these many years. Those deserving special appreciation include Regional Medical Center, University of Iowa Hospitals, Edgewood Convalescent Home, and Care Initiatives Hospice of Manchester.
Father Gabriel Anderson will lead a prayer service at St. Patrick Church in Ryan on September 23, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. The burial will follow at Ryan Calvary Cemetery.
