Joyce Brown

Joyce L. Brown, 95, of Holy Cross passed away on September 6, 2023 at Ennoble Care Center in Dubuque.  Per her wishes she was cremated, and no services will be held at this time.

Joyce Louise Brown was born on September 26, 1927 to Carl and Laura (Davis) Rosacker in Dubuque, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to Everett Brown on April 30, 1947.  He passed away in 2016.  Joyce retired as a machine operator from Dubuque Packing Company after many years of employment there.

Joyce and Everett lived in Florida for over 30 years where The Villages was a special place for them.  They enjoyed many rounds of golf together there.  Joyce enjoyed living in the countryside for the last 9 years and all that farm life had to offer.  She enjoyed doing needlepoint, Swedish Weave, and enjoyed having family gatherings.  She will be remembered for saying “always something to do” and having a brandy Old Fashioned in her hand as she watched the sunset.  One of Joyce’s favorite things was getting her hair styled by Becky Kennicker. Joyce exchanged the same birthday cards with her sister, Jean Stender of Bremerton, Washington, for decades, enjoying that family tradition.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Linda (John) Kennicker of Holy Cross and Steve (Connie) Brown of Flagler Beach, FL; grandchildren, Nick (Samantha) Kennicker of Dubuque; Emily (Kevin) Reiter of Cascade; and Jeff (Debbie) Brown of Baton Rouge, LA; great grandchildren: Austin, Lanie, Trey, Arlo, Cameron and Connor.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Everett; a sister, June Tuthill, a brother, Robert Rosacker, and her parents.

You are, and ever shall be, a perfect reflection of Spirit.

Life is good!  Lots of love to you always Mom!
