W. Richard Bolton Jr.

W. Richard Bolton Jr., age 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at Groundswell Cafe, 201 3rd Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Rich was born on October 15th, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to parents Warren Bolton and Leona Meyer. He attended Jefferson High School and dedicated 30 years of his life to Amana Refrigeration. Rich was a versatile individual, having also worked as a Semi-Truck Driver, Farm Hand, and in Dirt Track Racing Prep.

Rich had a profound love for the outdoors and camping. He was an avid Nascar fan, with the late great Dale Earnhardt as his favorite driver. Cruising in his car while listening to music brought him joy, and he cherished the time he spent with his two sons, Chase and Chandler Bolton, who made his daily care and comfort a priority.

One of Rich's greatest passions was music, particularly the drums. He was a naturally talented musician who played in bands and had an immense love for the art.

He lived life with an indomitable spirit, always striving to provide for his family. He always had the ability to overcome, leading many to know him as a real-life MacGyver. He had an uncanny ability to make people happy with his sense of humor.

Rich is survived by his loving mother, Leona Meyer; his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Leslea Bolton; his sister and partner, Deanna Bolton Heit and Jay McCarty; his son and partner, Chase Bolton and Cristena Core; his son and daughter-in-law, Chandler and Holli Bolton; as well as nephews Mason and Evan Bolton, Jacob Heit, and niece Jennah Pickart.

Rich was preceded in death by his father, Warren, nephew Andrew Heit, and grandparents.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Oldorf Hospice House and Rich's therapist for their compassionate care during Rich's final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family as a tribute to Rich's memory.

Rich's legacy of love, laughter, and his can-do spirit will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed.
