Charles "Charlie" Dean Wagg

Charles "Charlie" Dean Wagg, of Wapello, passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on Monday, October 9, at the age of 61. 

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Briggs Civic Center in Wapello. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Charles's name at Wapello Community Bank & Trust.

Charles was born in Burlington, IA on August 13, 1962, the son of Larry and Patricia Wagg. He graduated from Wapello High School with the Class of 1980. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married Genevieve Wagg on September 10, 1993.

Charles was a Maintenance Repair Person for the City of Muscatine, Parks Department, a job he truly enjoyed. He served on the Wapello City Council. Charles was also a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church.  In his free time, he enjoyed helping others, riding his motorcycle, fishing, boating, camping and hunting. He loved being on the river.  Most of all, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family (especially his grandkids) and friends.

Charles will be dearly missed by his wife, Genevieve; three children: Nathan (Misty) Robinson of Morning Sun, IA, Katie (Michael) Jacobs of Wilton, IA, and Brandy (Kurt) Schmidt of Maquoketa, IA; eight grandchildren: Skylar, Riley, Layton, Lucas, Laynie, Parker, Bentlee, and Harley; one great grandchild due February 2024; parents, Larry (Pat) Wagg; father in-law, Vernon Robinson; one sister, Brenda Wagg; aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
