Cathy Cay Pecenka
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Cathy Cay Pecenka of Waterloo Iowa. Cathy passed away peacefully on October 8th 2023 surrounded by family at the age of 66.
She was born to the late Charles (Gladys) Merrick, on June 5th 1957 in Waterloo, Iowa. She was one of six children. One sister, Mona Bebout, and four brothers: Don Merrick, Tim Merrick, Paul Merrick and Mike Merrick.
Cathy is survived by her partner, Keith Keiran of Waterloo Iowa, and three children: Michael (Lori) Pecenka of Omaha NE, Christina (Dallas) Lichty of Jesup Iowa, and Emily (Howard) Smith of Camdenton, MO. She is also survived by seven grandchildren (Hailey, Cameron, Charlie, Bryson, Adrik, Kinzley, and Addyley), her bother Mike Merrick of West Virginia, and sister Merriann Merrick of Waterloo Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents Charles (Gladys) Merrick, three brothers: Don Merrick, Tim Merrick, Paul Merrick, and her Sister Mona Bebout.
Cathy was retired from Dick Witham Ford of Waterloo, Iowa where she worked in the parts department. Cathy’s passion was arts and crafts with her grandchildren. She passed her appreciation of art to all her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she liked to do word searches and working in the yard. Cathy was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Her wishes were to be cremated followed by a celebration of life with her family and friends. The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 29th from 11am-1pm at the Eagles Club in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
