Patricia A. Baker

Patricia A. Baker, 86, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Oelwein, passed away on November 30, 2023 with her children by her side. Services are planned for a later date in California.

Patricia was born January 27, 1937 in Oelwein, IA to Louis and Gertrude (Moulton) Heldt. She was united in marriage to George Baker at the Little Brown Church. Their union was blessed with four children; Gary, Lori, Tammy and Pam. Together George and Patricia ran the Hub City Bakery in Oelwein for over 20 years. They also worked together at their construction company, building custom homes. Patricia loved to be outdoors gardening and loved to watch the squirrels in her yard. She and George often travelled to Las Vegas and she enjoyed telling the story of the time she met Kenny Rogers in his velvet green tux. Patricia loved spending time with her family and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. She lived her life as though she never knew her birthdate to know how old she was. She was young at heart her entire life.

Those left to cherish Patricia’s memory are her children Gary (Tina) Baker of Seattle, WA, Lori (Wes) Campbell of California and Tammy Baker of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Karen, Julie and Sarah, John, Laura and Lisa, and Shawna and Christopher; 14 great-grandchildren as well as 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings James Heldt of Florida, George Heldt of Iowa and Jackie Greco of Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, George; daughter Pam Baker; grandson Michael J Baker; great-grandchildren Michael C Baker, Landon and Andrew Campbell; one sister and six brothers; her parents Louis and Gertrude as well as many dogs over the years.
