Lloyd A. Oakland, 80, of Castalia, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 am, with a visitation beginning at 9 am, on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia.

Lloyd was born on September 12, 1943 to Harry and Myrtle (Peterson) Oakland in Decorah, Iowa.  He was united in marriage to his longtime companion, Pat Gunderson-Butikofer, on August 27, 2023 in Castalia, Iowa.  Lloyd proudly served in the US Army at Fort Hood, TX as a sharpshooter.  For most of Lloyd’s life he was an over the road trucker.  He had many hobbies including card playing, going for coffee with his friends, working outside in the yard, talking about his daughters, grandchildren and great grandson.  Lloyd never knew a stranger, he enjoyed talking to everyone.   
 
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Pat, his daughter Lori Oakland of Des Moines, his grandsons Devin (Kelsey Casey) Hermanson of Hopkinton, Danon Hageman of De Witt, Dawson (Rachel Darnall) Hageman of Ossian, great grandson Henry Hermanson.  Stepdaughter Heather (Chad) Coffin, step grandchildren Caleb (Taylor Russell), Teagan, Avary of Jesup.  Brothers, Gordon (Marlys) Oakland Ossian, Kermit (Linda) Oakland Ossian.  Sisters-in-law, Ileta Oakland, Luann Nims, Kathleen (Kim) Rothlisberger. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lisa (Oakland) Hageman, brothers Harold, Herman, sister Marie (Carl) Decker, nephew Randy Butikofer and brother-in-law Bob Nims.
 
Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
