Sheryol Shugar
Sheryol was born in Allison, Iowa on June 19, 1941, daughter of Lucille B. Fick (Newell). She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Shugar on April 8, 2018 and grandparents, Peter & Rena Fick of Allison, IA and her uncle and several aunts and cousins. She attended Allison, IA grade school and lived with her grandparents until age 12 at which time she moved to Waterloo, IA to live with her mother and husband, Allen Newell. She graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1959 and married Larry Kayser in 1961, had two sons, Jeffrey L. Kayser and Daniel A. Kayser, and later divorced. Grandchildren are Emmalyn (Cody Fitzpatrick), Carrie Kayser and Holly (Zac) Illg, and great granddaughters Frankie and Lou Illg. She married Gary L. Shugar in 2002. He had four children, Kimberly (Dewain) Wiebke, Kory (Deb) Shugar, Kara Shugar Davis and Kameron (Staci) Shugar. Grandchildren, Kristin (Kevin) Garner, Kaden, Devon and Sydney Davis and Marty & Austin Shugar and Elizabeth and Anna. Sheryol worked in sales, administration, management, human resources, dispatcher and clerical positions in the Waterloo, (CA), (FL), (MN) and (AZ) areas. Upon retirement Gary and Sheryol spent time wintering in Arizona and Texas. They loved traveling and especially enjoyed the trips on Gary’s Gold Wing.
At her request, she will be cremated with her ashes placed next to her mother and grandparents, Peter and Rena Fick, in the Allison, IA cemetery. A celebration of her life will be June 18, 2023 at the River View shelter in Black Hawk Park, Cedar Falls, IA from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
She loved the outdoors, camping, writing poetry and just hanging out with her husband, family, friends and her best buddy, Libby. Her life was a learning journey shared by all and each leaving a valuable imprint. She so cherished her husband, children, family, friends and special friendships of her long lasting and close friends.
