Herbert "Herb" John Tholen
Herbert “Herb” John Tholen, 89, passed away on March 8, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Herb was born December 15, 1933, to Ben and Annie Tholen in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Betty (Christensen) Tholen on May 15, 1955, in Bennett at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Herb served in the Army for two years. He farmed all of his life starting in Durant and moved to Tipton, retired from farming in 1997. Herb then drove for River Bend.
Herb is survived by his wife Betty, children Kent Tholen, Tipton, Shelley (Mike) Reeve, Solon, Brad (Becky) Tholen, Tipton. Grandchildren Chris (Jenny) Tholen, Lindsey Tholen, Ashley (Ian) Hui, Tyler Tholen, Brian Reeve and Zach Reeve and 9 great grandchildren. Brother John (Kathy) Tholen, Tipton. Many nieces and nephews.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
