Terry Johnson

Terry Johnson, affectionately known as ‘TJ,’ from Windsor Heights passed away on June 27th after a long battle with cancer.  Born to Arnold and Cecil Johnson in July of 1947, he was raised on a farm near Northwood, Iowa.

In 1969, he earned a degree in Entomology and also met his wife Deb while at Iowa State University. He was selected for the draft and served his time in the Army in Vietnam.  After completing his tour in Vietnam, Terry went to work for Orkin Pest Control.  Terry started his career at Orkin as a Service Technician and worked his way to a Regional Manager position overseeing multiple branches.  Terry had a lot of respect for Orkin and was a highly regarded manager within the organization.

Besides spending time with his family, Terry enjoyed fishing, reading, sudoku, and playing poker with his friends at the local casino. Terry could turn everyday tasks into a silly game or challenge.  He knew how to make the most out of any situation.  He even made an annual tradition of doing taxes together as a family followed by an evening of fun.

Terry is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Vickie, and granddaughter Paige.  Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah, two daughters Niki Daumueller (Tim) and Katy Thede, his four grandchildren Olivia, Ben, Jordyn and Emma, great grandson Coen, and his brother Allen.

At Terry’s request, he was cremated and there will be no public service. In his memory, we would love it if you had a beer to celebrate his time here on earth.   Here’s to you TJ, cheers and rest in peace.  Terry will be laid to rest with honors in Northwood at a later date. In remembrance of TJ’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to:
