Harry Joshua Howe

Harry Joshua Howe,74, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away on June 29, 2023 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center in Iowa City. 

Born January 11, 1949 to Marion and Laurada (Moser) Howe, raised in Kingston, he spent most of his time outside with his 4 siblings along with many cousins and friends from the area. Harry married Judith K. Parsons November 7, 1970 and they had 3 children.

Harry was a Jehovah’s Witness and loved to share his faith with anyone he could. Harry was a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Harry was a long time Iron Worker out of the local union 577 Burlington/Keokuk. He remained most happy outdoors with family and friends, and had a lifelong love of hunting, most anything, fishing and working on cars. He also loved music, especially blue grass and playing his harmonica.  When he was indoors, he liked playing cards, reading Louis L ’Amour books and he had a very special companion in his little dog, Snowflake.

Survivors include his children Joshua Howe Eley (Samantha), Jason Howe, Jennifer Howe; brothers Delbert (Bonny), Ervin, sister-in-law Nancy; grandchildren Ryan (Molly), Timothy (Sabrina), Alexander, Christopher, Makenna, Mikal, Kaleb, Annabelle and Liam; great-granddaughters Patricia and Olivia.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Arthur and Ethel (Brockway) Howe; George and Laura Ada (York) Moser, brother George Howe, sister Ceola Richardson and sister-in-law Ruth Howe.  

Per Harry’s wishes he was cremated. 

Memorial service will be held August 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 929 Main St. Montrose, IA 52639.  For those unable to attend in person, please contact Curtis 319-372-3939, for a livestream Zoom link.
