Obituary for Donald Eugene Perardi

Donald Eugene Perardi, 78, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on June 28, 2023. A Celebration of Life is planned for August 12th 9:00-11:00 at Eagle Point Park. 

Don was born on July 30, 1944.  He lived in Auburn, IL with his parents, Domenic and Racine (Stinnett) Perardi, and sister Linda until he graduated from high school. He was the first person in his immediate family to graduate high school and college.  He served in the Peace Corp. for 2 years in Liberia, Africa.  Upon returning home, he worked in education in Iowa and Illinois for the remainder of his career, making an impact through mathematics, counseling, reflection, and coaching.

On June 22, 1989 he was united in marriage to Rhonda Leiden. Their union was blessed with two children, Kate and Matt .  They later divorced, but remained friends.  His lifelong dream of building a log home was accomplished in 1992.  He had a genuine love of life as well as a positive, unique outlook on life.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, carpentry, automotive repair, reading, dancing, and problem solving.  He loved a good bargain, story, and project. He never let the challenges of MS stop him from accomplishing his goals.  He was proactive and always had a growth mindset.     

Those left to cherish Don’s memory are children Kate (Kyle) Janssen of Burnsville, MN and Matt Perardi of Grand Island, NE; grandchild Maia and family and friends.  

Donald is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
