David M. Garity, 72 of Corydon, IA died June 2 following a long battle with PVD and a massive heart attack.
David was born April 11, 1951, the thirteenth (of fifteen) child born to James and Mary (Dant) Garity. David was raised in Murray, IA. David was married to Marla Rumley on June 17, 1973. To this marriage came two daughters, the couple later divorced.
David worked on a farm in Wayne Co and as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. David lived his life by his own rules. He was stubborn, proud, and the good kind of ornery. He loved country life, the farming community, and to tell stories.
David is survived by his daughters Michele (Tony) Langenberg and Danielle (Ryan) Stouder and their children Reagan and Sydney; brother Fred Garity, sisters Laura O’Riley and Teresa Reynolds and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Garity and eleven siblings; brothers: Michael, Patrick, Richard, Edward, Joseph and Theodore Garity; sisters: Rose Mary Kneedler, Margaret Blazek, Helen Gillen, Martha Miller & Agnus Burton.
Michele and Danielle would like to thank David’s close circle of friends for the support they provided him through the years. This circle included his favorite nephew, Steven Garity, niece Shelly Gaiser, neighbors Jack & Jane Pershy, Kevin McDannald and Sherry Palmer. We appreciate the care you provided and know your presence made his life better.
A funeral mass will be held on July 1, 2023, 10:00 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ary, IA. He was cremated and his remains will and be buried St. Mary’s Cemetery in Maloy, IA.
