Russell Edwin McClure
Russell Edwin “Russ” McClure, 95, of Stuart, IA entered into God’s kingdom on July 14th, 2023. He was born on July 7th, 1928 to Pearline “Faith” and John McClure.
Russell, known as a kind and calm husband, father, and grandfather is preceded in death by his wife, Francis, and his daughter, Nancy. He is survived by his beloved children, Terri, Jimmy, and Lynn (Nancy); grandchildren, Robbin, Natalie, Rusty, and Josh; great-grandchildren, Christian, Casey, Alexandra, Gage, David, Jacob, and Renee; and a very special great-great grandson, Charlie.
Born in Casey, IA, Russell grew into a quiet and peaceful man who at the age of 17 and a half enlisted in the Army to serve his country. His father, John, had to provide a signature of approval in order for him to do so. Russell served from January 18th, 1946, to March 6th, 1947, and was a private first class. His occupation specialty was serving as a heavy truck driver.
Later in life, Russ and Francis decided to settle down in Stuart, IA. Favored pastimes of Russ’s included fishing, throwing horseshoes late into the evening, visiting with loved ones and friends, and Thursday coffees. In the early 70s, he enjoyed stock car racing with Lynn as one of his many hobbies. A loving, easygoing man, Russ appreciated even the simplicity of a car ride on a beautiful day.
Russ was loved by many. His positive outlook, generous spirit, and gentle heart left a tremendous impression wherever he went. Never did he meet a stranger that did not quickly become a friend. He will be missed more than words can say. May he rest in peace.
