Ronald Duane Neil
Ronald Duane Neil, 85, of Cedar Rapids passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
He was born on September 12, 1937, and grew up in Hopkinton, Iowa. Ron attended the University of Dubuque and was editor of the Cue his senior year. He was employed at Merchants National Bank, now U. S. Bank, for 32 years, serving as auditor for many of those years.
In 1972, he met Sue on a trip to Europe, fell in love, and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Ron was a member of the first class of Leadership for Five Seasons. He was proud to have volunteered at 20 organizations in roles that ranged from being an officer to serving coffee at the Nature Center pancake breakfast.
Ron felt very satisfied that in 2015, the family reached the goal of visiting all of the national parks in the 48 states.
Survivors include wife, Suzanne Neil, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter, Jeffry, Li, and Abby Neil, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Karl and Elizabeth Kahler, and niece, Patti Neil Miller and her family.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Esther Neil, and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Bonnie Neil.
