Gregory A. Cirves, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Wednesday July 12, 2023 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, in Hiawatha, Iowa among the presence of his family. A funeral service will be held in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, August 26th at 11:00am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 4011 Major Avenue. Inurnment will follow at 1:00pm at Roselawn Memorial Park, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held at 10:00am at St. Luke’s prior to the funeral service.

Survivors include his two daughters, Anne Cirves of Anamosa and Jennifer Cirves of Cedar Rapids, his two sons, Christopher (Susan) of Lone Tree, Colorado and David of Cedar Rapids, and his brother Gary (Teresa) of Maquoketa, Wisconsin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse and Christopher Kyle, and Alexander, Evan, Margaret, Robert and Jason Cirves, along with two great-grandchildren, Vander and Rune Cirves. He is preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Garey and his wife Eileen R McCaughey.

Greg was born on March 2, 1940 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Elmer and Gladys Borquist Cirves. He married Eileen on January 28, 1967 in Madison, Wisconsin. Greg was an electrical engineer at Cirves Electric followed by Square D/Schneider Electric. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids. Greg enjoyed hydroplane racing, reading, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in Greg’s name.
