Janice Ruth Bennett, 74, of Mechanicsville, IA, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, following a sudden illness.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
Survivors include her son, Brent Askelson of Marion and stepdaughters, Deb (Petur) Bennett Jonsson of Akranes, Iceland and Sherry Karg of White Bear Township, MN; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Richard Bennett (2017).
Janice Ruth Casteel was born August 11, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Nellie (Rudolph) Casteel. On October 30, 1987, she married Richard Bennett in Postville, IA. Janice worked for the State of Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mechanicsville Fire and Ambulance Volunteers, P.O. Box 190, Mechanicsville, IA 52306.
