Marilyn Rose Coppernoll

Marilyn Rose Coppernoll, 85, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away Friday, February 24, 2023, at The Meth-Wick Community after a long illness. Private burial will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Marilyn was born April 21, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Margaret and Julius Mueller. She married Donald Coppernoll on August 1, 1959, in Cedar Rapids. Donald passed away in 2004.

Marilyn was a graduate of Coe College. She taught at Wright Elementary School and also later as a substitute teacher. She played piano and organ for Holy Redeemer Church, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and Knox Presbyterian Church. Marilyn was a stay-at-home Mom, a den mother for Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, and a Blue Bird Teacher. Marilyn participated in bowling leagues and played tennis and golf. She loved playing piano and listening to music. 

Survivors include a son, Craig (Tammy) Coppernoll of Cedar Rapids, IA, a daughter, Carrie Coppernoll, of San Diego, CA, and a grandson, Keith Coppernoll of Cedar Rapids, IA. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her son, Scott, her parents, her sister, Sharon and her brother, William. 

Marilyn’s family would like to express their gratitude to The Meth-Wick Community over the many years, caring for Marilyn.
