Lawrence "Larry" Roth

Lawrence “Larry” Roth 91, of Belle Plaine, IA, passed away after a short illness on December 4, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Larry was born July 1, 1932, to Joseph and Irene Roth. Larry grew up on the family farm south of Brooklyn, IA. He graduated from Brooklyn High School then attended the University of Iowa College. Larry served his country in the US Air Force, as a radar operator for 4 years. He married Kathryn Border from Belle Plaine on February 19th, 1955. 

Larry will be remembered for his love of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, Cubs and Bulls. He also had a passion for Astrology, he loved to do horoscope readings for people. Larry had several different jobs, including the National Farmers Organization, the United States Department of Agriculture and loved talking with farmers. He had the gift to gab. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathryn Roth and children; Ed Roth of Belle Plaine, Becky (Dwight) Douglas of Belle Plaine, Anita Palmer of Toledo, Ted (Shelly) Roth of Cedar Rapids, Don (Ruthanne) Roth of Provo, UT, Russ (Kaye) Roth of Rowley and Dale (Melissa) Roth of Williamsburg; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Irene Roth; brothers: Leonard, Maynard and LaVerne; sisters: Theresa Klein and Marita DeMeulenaere; son-in-law: Rob Palmer; grandsons: Damien Moore and Austin Roth; great granddaughter, Faith Douglas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 16th, 2023, at the Farm Bureau Building, 125 Jackson St, Brooklyn, IA from 11:00 -2:30 pm, where lunch will be provided. The eulogy will be performed by Pastor Warren Riley at 12:00 pm (noon).
