Janann Marie Wallace, Age 91, of Dubuque, IA, passed away at Stonehill Care Center in Dubuque, IA on Monday, December 4, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

In keeping with Janann’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service.

Janann was born on October 1, 1932, in Dubuque, IA. She was the daughter of the late Ray and Susie (Haupert) Kiernan. She was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque, IA class of 1951. On May 22, 1954, Janann married the love of her life, Claude E. Wallace in Dubuque, IA. She was a lunch lady for the Dubuque Community Schools until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Janann was often called the “Mayor of Elm Street”. She loved going to the farmer’s market and would never miss a Saturday, she loved going to the casino, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, loved playing Euchre with her best friends, and she enjoyed bowling for many years, where she was a member of the 600 Club. She was very proud of all her grandchildren, and especially her six great-grandchildren. Janann never met a person who did not love her.

Those left to cherish Janann’s memory is her husband Claude of Dubuque, IA; her children, Cindy (Donny) Tschiggfrie, of Dubuque, IA, Patti (Doug) Kelly, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Tom (Julie) Wallace, of Marion, IA; her grandchildren, Sarah (Brett) Fisher, of Crystal Lake, IL, Joshua Tschiggfrie (Christopher Dahlstrand)  of Orlando, FL., Justin Wallace of Dubuque, IA,  Amanda (Tyler) Shadle, of Marion, IA, Cody Wallace of Dubuque, IA, Patrick Kelly, Katie Kelly, and Timothy Kelly, all of Cedar Rapids, IA; and a sister-in-law, Barb Kiernan of Edgewater, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James and Carl Kiernan, and a grandson, Cory Wallace. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Park Place for their care and friendship for Janann and Claude, to the Stonehill Staff, and Kim at Hospice of Dubuque for their compassionate care.
