Daniel Wayne Breckenridge, 75, of Waukee, IA, passed away the morning of December 24, 2023. Hewas born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 28, 1948 to Mary Frances and Robert D. Breckenridge.

He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Charles I. Breckenridge. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joyce Adams Breckenridge; his daughters DeAnne Breckenridge (Joe) Harrison of Jacksonville, Florida and Virginia “Ginnie” Breckenridge (David) Aranda of Lakeland, Florida; his grandchildren Madeline and Joshua Aranda and his daughters’ mother and friend, Nancy Breckenridge of Jacksonville, Florida and his two dogs Roxy and Bowser.

Wayne had an amazing life and one of his earliest achievements was being an Eagle Scout which led to a life of service. He retired from the Army after 21 years of service, serving as a Military Policeman in Ethiopia and Japan and then as a Club Manager in Schweinfurt, Germany. While in Germany he was very active with the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners, working his way up to Grand Master of the American Canadian Grand Lodge of Germany and serving as President of the European Shrine Club. He was also a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the York Rite and Scottish Rite. After retirement from the Army, Wayne began a 20 year career in hospital management that eventually brought him to the.

Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He retired from the VA in 2013 and then at the age of 65 began his final career as “Mr. Wayne” a bus driver for the Waukee schools. He truly loved driving the students everyday and didn’t retire until his health made it necessary just a few months ago.

Two memorial services will be held: the first on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Waukee Christian Church, 29043 T Avenue (at Hickman Road), Waukee, Iowa and the second in Florida on Sunday, February 4th, at 2:00 pm at the Club Continental, 2143 Astor Road, Orange Park, Florida.
