Christopher Robert Holub

Christopher 'Catfish' Robert Holub passed away December 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his wife Glenda by his side. Chris was born to Robert M and Arlene (Heaton) Holub on July 24, 1955 in Monticello IA and grew up in Prairieburg, IA. He graduated from Central City HS in 1973. He was an Air Force veteran during the Vietnam conflict 73-76. He married Glenda Taylor on May 15, 1998. 

Chris was an avid crappie fisherman taught by the best, his parents. Many a wedding anniversary vacation was centered around the crappie spawn. He enjoyed time with his family, and moral mushroom hunting, and going to lake Pomm De Terre. 

He is survived by his wife, Glenda of Guttenberg; mother, Arlene of Center Point, IA;  children, Quinton of DeWitt, Robert (Candice) Holub, and Justin Holub of Des Moines;  IA; step-children, Vanessa (Randy) Huffman of Maquoketa IA, Nathan Vanis ( Michelle Linden) of Malcom IA, Kyle Vanis (Alejandra Narez) of Aromas, CA; grandson, Vincent Vanis of Anamosa, IA; sisters, Becky (Kevin) Shoop of Walker, IA and Janice (Pat) McLaughlin of Keystone, IA; nephews, Kene (Brianna) Shoop, Ryan (Amanda) Shoop, and Jeff (Chelsea) Smith; pets, Billy, Barney and Zeus. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his father, Robert; a daughter in infancy, Jennifer; and his dog, Bailey. 

A celebration of life will be held at later date.
